Hi! I’m Kelly.
Like so many, my recipes are inspired by my favorite experiences and people. My mother was always an inquisitive cook; she would try a new dish and could easily turn around and replicate it at home. She is also an intuitive cook, and encouraged me to trust my sight, smell, feel, and touch to make homecooked meals. The ideals and values I was brought up on fed my curiosity to further explore the world, and find ways to bring it home.
In an effort to recreate favorite meals from my childhood and experiences, I began to reconstruct recipes to use what I had, while also honoring the unique culinary and nutritional elements of the dish. I’ve taken these memories to create delicious and well-rounded meals to help broaden my son’s palette, while also instilling the importance of nutrition through homecooked meals and whole foods.
Exposing my son to new and interesting ingredients, studying their value, and putting pen to paper was how Raising Worldly Eaters was born!
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and now living in Northern Virginia, it’s important to me to create cozy, BIG, and accessible meals. Finding original ingredients for some of these authentic dishes can be hard to come by, so I hope to inspire you to value the resources around you, and to encourage your children to become worldly eaters.
